Summer School ’21 Launch
Fulwood Academy has launched their Summer School for students joining Year 7 in September.
The Summer School is free and will run from the 19th July 2021 to 30th July 2021, inclusive, and builds on the popular programme that ran last year.
Dave Lancaster, Principal, said: “In 2020 we set up a Summer School during the holidays to help our students to continue to reengage in their education after the first lockdown.
“They got to take part in some fantastic activities, and, critically, they also had an opportunity to socialise with their friends and interact with their teachers. As physical and mental health is such an important part of academic progress, this helped ensure that students have been able to make the most out of the last school year.”
This year, over the two weeks of the programme, students will be able to take part in an enhanced package of activities. This will include archery, canoeing, forest school and food technology. All students will also be asked to complete a wellbeing journal at the end of each of the days in order for them to log areas of personal development.
Mr Lancaster added: “The impact of the Summer School was tangible, so we are building on our previous success and creating a programme that is bigger and better.
